Deniz Derin Akıncı

My work is rooted in thematic conflicts and personal discomforts, critically addressing artificial constructs imposed on society today.

I explore issues such as gender, beauty, nationality, collective identity, media-driven consumption, and the distancing from truth.

By using plastic and synthetic materials—substances that resist decay—I reflect on the tension between permanence and fragility in contemporary life.

This choice is also a metaphor for society’s adherence to fabricated realities.

Through found objects, installations, video, and photography, I create a visual language that examines how accepted ideas shape reality.

My practice often employs inorganic materials to highlight the artificial and the “plastic” nature of modern existence.

I currently continue my practice at my studio in Rumelihisarı, Istanbul.
